Francis Woody Richmond

Francis J. “Woody” Richmond passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the age of 73.  Woody will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Lucille (Donahue), children, Christine, fiancé of Francis X. Maurer, III, of Pottstown and Sean, of Jim Thorpe , and rescue dog, Polly. 

Uncle Woody will also be fondly missed by the Richmond, Donahue, Damiano, and McGorry families. 

 He is survived by a brother, Thomas J., of Jim Thorpe.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen (Brown) and Thomas “Demps” Richmond.

A native of East Mauch Chunk, Woody graduated from Mauch Chunk Catholic High School in 1964.  He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1967 and then in the Naval Reserve until 1971. After returning from the service, he was employed at Bethlehem Steel and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Dolon-Jones-Martino / Jim Thorpe American Legion Post 304. During the 80s he coached Jim Thorpe Little League and was an active member of the Jim Thorpe Olympian Booster Club where he served as Treasurer and was elected Man of the Year in 1991.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday November 15 at 11am in The Shrine of St. Theresa New Columbus, PA. Calling hour 10am until the time of Mass in church. Interment following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery New Columbus. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Woody’s name to Carbon County Friends of Animals, 77 West 13th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229
