Joseph T. Garritano passed away on July 15th after a hard fought battle with brain cancer.
He was born in Brooklyn,New York, January 20th 1949, the son of the late Thomas and Mary(Valla) Garritano.
He resided in Jim Thorpe with his wife Marie Mistretta Garritano.
He leaves behind three children: son Joseph Cooper of Philadelphia, daughter Marianne Garritano Rustad and her husband Joshua of Lehighton, and son T.J Garritano, his wife Amy Kovelenko Garritano, and four grandchildren, TJ jr, Natalie, Aidan and Avery, of Jim Thorpe, and sister Connie Ciccarelli and her son Nicholas Ciccarelli of Queens New York, plus nieces and nephews through marriage that he considered his own. He was preceded in death by a brother Frank .
He was a member of the armed forces, both Army and Air Force.He retired from the Air Force after thirty three years of service in 2009 as a Master Sergeant.He was a member of The 193 Special Operation Squad of Harrisburg.
There will be no formal calling hours,however ,family and friends are welcome to join the Garritano family at the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun club on Sunday, July 29th at 2:00 as they celebrate with a tribute. On Monday, July 30th, he will be buried at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 11:00am with full military honors.
