Alan Katz Obituary

Alan Katz, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and esteemed member of the Jim Thorpe community, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on December 23, 1956, in the Bronx, New York, Alan was the beloved son of Arnold and Bernice (Rubin) Katz. His warmth, intelligence, and humor touched the lives of all who knew him.

Alan's journey led him from the vibrant streets of the Bronx to the scenic beauty of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, where he established deep roots and a legacy of kindness and success. He was the devoted husband of Marie (Heydt) Katz, with whom he shared a life full of love and partnership. Together, they navigated the joys and challenges of life, always supporting each other's dreams and aspirations.

A proud father, Alan is survived by his daughter April Amisson of Forked River, New Jersey; his stepdaughter Jenny Armstrong and her husband Roger of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; and his son David Katz and his wife Sarah of Temple, Texas. Alan was a grandfather to Kaden and Joseph.

Alan is survived by two sisters, Hilary Katz of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Elyssa Torres of Oak City, North Carolina. Alan was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Katz.  His nephew Samuel Heydt will cherish the memories of his uncle's guidance and the fun times they shared.

Alan was a veteran having served with the US Air Force.

Alan's academic achievements were marked by his dedication and intellect, culminating in an MBA that paved the way for his professional endeavors. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Katz Accounting in Jim Thorpe, where he not only managed finances but also built lasting relationships with his clients and colleagues. His business acumen extended to several other ventures, each benefiting from his sharp wit and unwavering integrity.

Beyond the office, Alan found solace  and joy in Florida, on the water, where boating became a treasured pastime. The tranquility of the waves and the call of the open sea provided him with a sanctuary where he could reflect and relax.

Those who knew Alan will remember him as a man of many virtues. Funny, intelligent, and kind, he had a unique ability to light up a room with his humor and to offer wise counsel when it was needed most. His presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to his family, friends, and the community he served.

Alan Katz lived a life marked by laughter, learning, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will be held in the hearts of his loved ones forever. As we bid farewell to Alan, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man who was truly one of a kind.
