Christopher Day Obituary

Christopher Day 47, of Jim Thorpe passed away Wednesday March 24 in his home surrounded by his loving family from cancer after a two and a half year fight. He was the husband of Kimberly (Aungst) Day. The couple celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary December 10.

 

Born in Arlington, VA September 17, 1973 he was the son of Floyd and Marilyn (Kerr) Day living in Bear Creek Lakes.

 

He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 22 years. He was currently a Mail Processing Equipment Mechanic.

 

He was a proud member of the American Postal Workers Union. He held several positions with the Lehigh Valley Area Local 0268 with the position of Executive Vice President. He was a member of the Northeast Business Agency for Pennsylvania Postal Workers Union representing members from the Lehigh Valley to New York State. He was a Lehigh Valley Labor Council Delegate. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 18 years with Penn Forest Fire company. President the Lady Olympian High School Booster Club for 6 years. Coached the Jim Thorpe  Girls Softball team for 6 years. He was a member of the Mauch Chunk Rod and Gun Club.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his children Avery Hower and her husband Johnathan of Albrightsville. Joclyn Day and Kaitlyn Day, Jim Thorpe.

Brothers Jeffrey and his wife Heather in Jim Thorpe. Andrew and his wife Crystal and Brian all of Jim Thorpe.

 

Chris’s most important job was being a husband and father to his daughters.
