Doris King Obituary

Doris was born 11/11/37 at Charles S. Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City NY, She was the only child of Margaret (Gray) Miller and Raymond Miller. Doris dreamed of becoming a nurse and she graduated from the Wilson Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1958. She worked for many years in nursing and touched many lives. She was very proud of her profession and nursing always remained her first love. Doris was very curious and had a scientific mind. She was an early adopter of technology, creating databases for her husband Wesley’s financial planning business, and she dragged him kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Doris and Wes moved to the Pocono Mountains in PA in 1999 and they had many years of traveling and fun together. They enjoyed camping, gardening, reading, and music. After Wes passed away in 2012, Doris continued to develop her love for science and  nature, and was especially interested in anything to do with NASA and the space program. She enjoyed her retirement years in Pocono Mountains, feeding her birds, enjoying a little deck gardening, watching the stars, and observing the nature surrounding her.

She is survived by her children, Norma J. Young and her husband, Loren, her son, Patrick T. McMahon, and his wife Mary, Kathleen M. McMahon, and her husband, Steve Gray, and four grandchildren; Jacklyn M.Young (Dwayne Yeakel), Nathan C. Berdice, Hope (McMahon) Motjabae (Jordan), and Ryan McMahon (Carole).  She has 2 great-grandchildren, Radley and Elijah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Wesley King, her son, Anthony E. McMahon, and grandson Joel T. Young.
