Janet (Fischer) Drury

Janet E. Drury, a loving, kind and gentle woman who brought joy and warmth to every life she touched, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, in Weatherly, PA. She was the wife of John Drury. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in July 2022.

Janet was born on December 21, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter to Harvey and Mabel (Demberger) Fischer. She and John attended Germantown High School together in Philadelphia, PA. Janet went to business school for two years while John went to Temple University. They married in 1954.

Janet was the devoted wife of John Drury, with whom she built a beautiful and eventful life. She was an extraordinary mother to her three sons, David and his wife Mary Ann Drury of Jim Thorpe, PA, Dale and his wife Lynn Drury of Jenkintown, PA, and Mark and his wife Lisa Drury of Ephrata, PA. Janet had 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Harvey Fischer and sister Evelyn Kline.

For over thirty years she was a member of Grace St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jim Thorpe, where she was active in the Women's Ministry Group. Janet was also very active in the Lioness Club of Jim Thorpe for a number of years.

Janet's gentle, patient nature won her many friends. She was simply a good listener and committed to the well-being of others.

Rest peacefully, Janet E. Drury, and know that you have made a positive mark on this world.

Memorial service will be held Thursday May 25, 2023 in the David J. Stianche Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe at 11 am. Calling hour 10 am until the time of the services in the funeral home. Private interment will be in Mauch Chunk Cemetery Jim Thorpe.
