Jean Straubinger of Jim Thorpe passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 in St. Lukes Hospital, Carbon Campus, Lehighton. She was the widow of the late Carol G. ”Tixie” Straubinger who passed in June 2005.
Born in Mauch Chunk February 10, 1936, she was the daughter of William and Ellen McGee (Christopher) Bock.
Jean was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church in the Heights section of Jim Thorpe.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was a cafeteria worker for the Jim Thorpe area school district for many years before retiring. She was a graduate of the class of 1954 Mauch Chunk High School.
Surviving or her sons Keith of Coaldale. Gary and Lee of Jim Thorpe. Daughters Diane wife of William Highland III of Lehighton and Denise Straubinger of Jim Thorpe. Nine grandchildren; Wendy, William and Benjamin Highland (Ashley), David Anthony (Chris), Dezirae Wert ( Brian) and Derrick Feller (Mary), Scott and Courtney Straubinger and Michael Atkinson. 13 great- grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Harold “Butch” Christopher and his wife Sally Christopher. a sister Nancy McGinley, sister Ellen Reimerhull and a Daughter-in-law Anita Straubinger.
Services will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 at 1 PM in the David J. Stianche Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe. Calling hours 11am until the time of the services in the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be Sky View Memorial Park Hometown, PA at a later date.
