Nancy F. Getz

Nancy F. Getz, 89, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2023, in Jim Thorpe, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Getz, who passed in October 2015.
 

Born in New Tripoli, PA, she was the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Rehrig) Weaver.
 

Nancy's life was a testament to her strength, kindness, enduring spirit and the deep love she had for her family. She was a devoted Navy wife and followed her husband, Bill, with their children to his various duty stations. Among the various places she lived, she particularly enjoyed the time she lived in Naples, Italy. Nancy and Bill also enjoyed traveling after his retirement and visited almost every state in the USA at least once.

Nancy loved playing word games, even playing others online, at which she excelled. She particularly enjoyed attending local bingo games as well as trips to the casinos.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Dorinda Getz of Jim Thorpe, and Sandra Searfoss and her husband Jeffrey, also of Jim Thorpe. Her legacy will continue to live on through her grandsons, Matthew Searfoss and his wife Samantha, and Joseph Searfoss, as well as her great‑grandchildren Layla, Lyric, Aria, Madelyn, Mason, and Annabella. Nancy is also survived by a sister, Mary Arner and her husband Robert of Lehighton.

Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Weaver and Norwood Weaver, and a sister, Doris Schenkenberger.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held Saturday July 15, 2023 in the David J. Stianche Funeral Home at 12 pm. Calling hour will be 11 am until the time of the services in the funeral home led by Rev. John Hassler. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Carbon County Animal Shelter, 63 Broad Street, Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
