Richard W. “Richie” Dressler, 80, of Jim Thorpe passed away Monday, May 4, in Saint Luke’s Hospital Bethlehem. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the eldest of four children to the late William and Anna (Murphy) Dressler. Richie was employed as a truck driver for many years until 1996, when he became a bus driver for Saint Anne’s Home for the Aged. After 15 years, he retired in 2011 and moved to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
Richie was preceded in death by his three brothers John, William and Ronald Dressler and his son Richard P. Dressler.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances (Whelan) Dressler and his children, Dennis Dressler and his girlfriend Betsy Vucak of Beachwood, NJ, Leann Bruno and her husband Roger of Beachwood, NJ, Thomas Dressler and his wife Pauline of Jackson, NJ and Dana Velez and her husband Eddie of Howell, NJ. He had a total of 9 grandchildren, Richard, Krystina, Samantha, Melissa, Michael, Jessica, Jordan, James and Katie and 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Aleena. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends he considered family.
Richie touched the lives of everyone he met with his love, warmth, humor and generosity. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
