Thomas F. Sheehan, of Jim Thorpe, PA, died on January 5, 2021 of pancreatic cancer. He was born on July 18, 1945, the son of Joseph and Mina (Llewellyn) Sheehan of Jim Thorpe. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and was employed as an educator and guidance counselor at Northern Lehigh High School before retiring in 2004. He was husband to Anita (Strubinger,) father to Candace (Dennis) Gandy in Lehighton, and grandfather to Taylor, Sydney, Joshua, and Jacob Gandy. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. In 1976, he assumed head basketball coach at Marian Catholic High School in Hometown, PA. After his coaching tenure, he was one of the local high school basketball game broadcasters for Blue Ridge Cable, along with Bob Capasso, Tony Choy, and the late Bob Mlkvy and Pip Rader. He also was the host of the Palmerton Hospital TV Auction and Dream Come True telethons for many years. After living through many difficulties in life, and after the death of his two sons, Thomas, Jr. and Brian, Tom spent the following years turning his personal pain into therapeutic nature walks with his best friends and anyone who wanted to join the group. His quick sense of humor was unparalleled. He will be greatly missed by his immediate family, close friends, and all the members of the Strubinger and Sheehan families.
